Sushmita Sen

Biography:

Indian actress, model, and beauty queen Sushmita Sen was born on November 19, 1975. She had won Femina Miss India when she was eighteen, and then she had won Miss Universe 1994. She is the inaugural Indian female Miss Universe champion. She has pursued a career in acting after winning the competition.

Sen debuted as an actress in the 1996 thriller Dastak, portraying a fictionalized version of herself. She was nominated in the category for her parts in the dramas Sirf Tum (1999) and Filhaal… (2002), and she won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a married man’s girlfriend in the comedy film Biwi No.1 (1999).

Her other box office hits include Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005), Main Hoon Na (2004), and Aankhen (2002). Sen had a career slump and absence before returning to the screen to star in the drama series Aarya (2020–present), for which she received a Filmfare OTT Award, and in the miniseries Taali (2023), where she played transgender activist Shreegauri Sawant.

Sen was born in Hyderabad on November 19, 1975, into a Bengali Baidya family. His parents are Shubeer Sen, a former Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force, and Subhra Sen, a jewelry designer and store owner in Dubai. Rajeev Sen, her younger brother, was previously wed to television personality Charu Asopa. Sen did not pursue any further higher education after attending the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi and St. Ann’s High School in Secunderabad.
