Suma was born on March 22, 1974, in Palakkad, Kerala, India, her hometown. She was born into an orthodox Malay family, and her parents, Pranavi Narayanan Kutty Nair and Pallassana Paachuveettil Vimala, lived together for a very long time in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh (now in Telangana), India, due to the father’s job transfer near the Lalaguda & Mettuguda railways. She attended St. Ann’s High School in the Tarnaka colony area before attending Railway Degree College in Lalaguda to earn her degree.

She is a 16-year-old presenter who has emceed a number of Telugu film audio premieres, film awards, and events. She is a Malayali from Kerala who is conversant in Telugu. Since 1995, she has been in a number of serials and telefilms, but the rise of satellite channels marked the beginning of her big break. Her main serials included Swayamvaram, Anveshitha, Geethanjali, and Ravoyi Chandamama. She had no desire to work in the film industry. Star Mahila on ETV, Kanakala’s signature program, drew a sizable female audience. By making this show one of the longest-running women’s game shows in India, she set a record.
She displays her flexibility in Panchavataram on TV9. Her current prime time programs include Cash on ETV and Start music on MAA TV. On December 26, 2012, Kanakala founded her own production company, K. Suma Rajeev Creations, and produced the Zee Telugu program Lakku Kikku. She also contributed to the ETV program Genes. Her Kevvu Keka, which she co-starred in on MAA TV with Mano, was created by K. Suma Rajeev Creations. In addition, Kanakala sang the song “Suya Suya” from the 2017 Telugu film Winner. She is also renowned for making witty and unplanned comments while performing on her gigs.
