The founder and chairman of Bollant Industries, Srikanth Bolla, is an Indian businessman who was born on July 7, 1991. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, he was the first student with vision impairments to study management science.
Srikanth Bolla was born on July 7, 1991, in Seetharamapuram, Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, into a Telugu-speaking family. Both of his parents lacked education. He had been born the eldest and was blind from birth. Farming was the primary source of income for Bolla’s family. He had a difficult upbringing because his family didn’t have power, education was a luxury, and they didn’t make enough money to get by. Educational prospects were particularly difficult for him because few schools accommodated his vision impairment.
Bolla founded Bollant Industries in 2012 alongside Ravi Mantha, his business partner. After over a decade of romance, he married Veera Swathi in 2022. The couple called their daughter Nayana, which means eyes, in 2024.
Bolla intended to study science at school, but he was unable to do so because of his vision impairment in the tenth grade. He received a 98% on his XII board examinations, which put him at the top of his class, but the school did not provide accommodations for those with visual impairments. Bolla persevered and won his case, becoming the first visually challenged student in Andhra Pradesh to pursue a scientific degree after a six-month delay.
Bolla was turned down for admission to Indian Institute of Technology tutoring centers after graduating. Due to his eyesight, he chose to become an engineer.
He has since played a significant role in establishing opportunities for those who are blind or visually challenged. He joined Lead India 2020: The Second National young Movement after serving as a young leader since 2005. Started by former President of India A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Lead India 2020 is helping India reach the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2020 by eradicating poverty, illiteracy and unemployment
