Sonam Nair

Biography:

Sonam Nair is an Indian filmmaker, writer, and director who makes films in Hindi. Nair has made movies in Hindi films and digital media. As an assistant director, she has worked with renowned filmmaker Imtiaz Ali in films such as “Rockstar” (2011) and “Highway” (2014). This experience contributed to her unique storytelling style that has emotions, believable characters, and contemporary view of love, life, and relationships. In 2015, Nair started her work as a feature film director in Guthoram, which was screened at several international film festivals. She came to the spotlight with Netflix show “Masaba Masaba” (2020-2022), which was based on the story of famous fashion designer Masaba Gupta and actress Neena Gupta. The show received positive feedback and multiple awards nominations. She also directed romantic comedy “Dupahiya” (2025). Sonam Nair creates strong women characters and unique emotional stories and therefore, she is considered one of the best contemporary filmmakers in Indian OTT media.
