Sobhitha Dhulipala, born on May 31, 1992, in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, hails from a Telugu Brahmin family. Her father, Venugopal Rao, worked as a Merchant Navy engineer, while her mother, Santha Kamakshi, was a primary school teacher. Growing up in Visakhapatnam, Sobhitha was a dedicated and studious child, prioritizing academic achievements and holding the position of school captain. At the age of sixteen, driven by a desire for broader horizons, she ventured alone to Mumbai. Subsequently, she pursued her education at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics in the University of Mumbai. Apart from her academic pursuits, Sobhitha is also a proficient classical dancer in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. In 2010, she achieved the title of Navy Queen at the annual Navy Ball.
Dhulipala made her film debut in Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0 in 2016. She also signed a three-film deal with Kashyap’s production company Phantom Films. The film premiered at the Director’s Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival 2016, where she was nominated by critics for best supporting performance. In 2018, Dhulipala appeared in her first Telugu film Goodachari. She also starred as one of the leads in the Amazon Prime original series Made In Heaven.
In 2019, she appeared in a pivotal role in Bard of Blood, an Indian fictional spy thriller Netflix web television series. She also made her debut in Malayalam cinema with the 2019 Geetu Mohandas directorial-feature Moothon.
In 2022, Dhulipala had a supporting role in the Hindi-Telugu biographical action film Major. She also appeared in Mani Ratnam’s period film Ponniyin Selvan: I.
