Shelly Kishore, an accomplished Indian actress in both film and television, gained recognition for her notable roles such as Shalini in “Kumkumapoovu,” Thanga Meenkal, and Usha in “Minnal Murali.” Born to J. Nabu Kumar, a civil engineer based in Dubai, and homemaker Sheela, Shelly has an elder brother residing in the US and a sister, Shibily, who works as a teacher.
Raised in Muscat and later attending the New Indian Model School in Dubai, Shelly pursued her education with a diploma in mass media and communication from Singapore, along with another diploma in sociology. She furthered her academic journey by completing a Post Graduation in E-Governance.
Shelly Kishore’s talent in acting was recognized early in her career when she received the Kerala State Television Award for Best Actress in 2006 for her role in the Amrita TV serial “Thaniye.” Her entry into the world of cinema began with the Malayalam movie “Kerala Cafe,” directed by Shankar Ramakrishnan, and later expanded to Tamil and Hindi films, including “Thanga Meenkal” and “The Waiting Room,” respectively.
Apart from her prowess in acting, Shelly is well-versed in classical Indian dance forms such as Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Bharatanatyam. She also achieved acclaim as the second runner-up in the Miss Flower Show contest held at Kanakakunnu, Trivandrum.
While her appearance in the unreleased Malayalam movie “Kanalkannadi” directed by Jayan Poduval remains a notable mention, Shelly is particularly renowned in Malayali households for her portrayal of Shalini Rudran in “Kumkumapoovu.” After a hiatus from television, she made a comeback in 2017 with the character Balasuda in “Sthreepadam.” Shelly Kishore continues to leave a lasting impact on the Indian entertainment industry with her versatile and accomplished career.
