Sanjeevani Bhelande, born on 26 Jan 1970, hails from a family of educators, her roots anchored in academia. An adept musician, she holds a degree in music (Sangeet Visharad) and has extensive training in Odissi and Kathak classical dance forms. Complementing her artistic pursuits, Sanjeevani holds a master’s in commerce and a Diploma in Mass Communication.
Her career as a playback singer boasts numerous memorable Hindi film songs, including “Chori Chori Nazrein Mili” (Kareeb), “Nikamma Kiya,” “Uljhanoko De Diya” (Rules), “Makhmali Yeh Badan” (Road), “Chidiya Tu Hoti” (Nayak), “Churalo Na Dil Mera Sanam,” “Haan Judaai Se,” “Tum Juda Hokar,” and several others.
Sanjeevani’s talent was acknowledged early in her career when she clinched the Ashirwad award for Best Playback Singer in 1999 for “Chori Chori Nazrein Mili.” Her work in “Churalo Na Dil Mera Sanam” earned her nominations from Filmfare and Screen awards.
Making history, Sanjeevani became the pioneer winner of Zee TV’s “Sa Re Ga Ma,” marking her selection for playback singing in Hindi films from a talent show. The renowned music director Khayyam crowned her as the winner during the 1995 finals of the show, leading to an invitation from filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra to render five playback songs for his film Kareeb.
Beyond her playback singing prowess, Sanjeevani is known for her unique album and book ‘Meera and Me.’ A distinct genre, this project involves her singing, translating, and composing Mirabai’s songs into English.
