Biography:

Sanjeev, born on September 28, 1975, is a renowned Indian actor in both the film and television industries. He is best known for his portrayal of Selvam in the Tamil drama series “Thirumathi Selvam” which aired on Sun TV from 2007 to 2013. In this long-running series, he shared the screen with actress Abitha, earning widespread recognition and appreciation for his performance. Sanjeev’s association with the show spanned nearly six years, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in Tamil television. Throughout his career, which has spanned over 17 years, he has showcased his versatile acting skills by taking on various roles in popular serials like “Metti Oli,” “Anandham,” “Annamalai,” “Aval,” “Yaaradi Nee Mohini,” and “Kanmani,” portraying both protagonists and antagonists.

On a personal note, Sanjeev shares a close friendship with Tamil actor Vijay, and they were classmates in Loyola College, where they studied visual communications. He is also the nephew of the late actress Manjula Vijayakumar. In 2009, Sanjeev tied the knot with leading television actress Preethi Srinivasan. Tragically, his only sister, Sindhu, passed away in 2005, leaving behind a young daughter. Sanjeev assumed full responsibility for his niece, and in 2017, he and his wife Preethi conducted her wedding as her parents. Among his close friends in the television industry are Deepak Dinkar, Shreekumar, and Vijay. Sanjeev and Preethi are parents to two children, Laya, born in May 2010, and Adhav, born in April 2014.

Sanjeev embarked on his acting journey by taking on supporting roles, often playing the friend of Tamil actor Vijay in many films. He transitioned into television with the serial “Metti Oli” in 2002, where he portrayed a negative character. However, his breakthrough came with “Thirumathi Selvam” (2007-2013), where he assumed the main lead role for the first time. The series catapulted him to fame among Tamil audiences, and his performance garnered widespread acclaim. Notable awards he received for his role in the show include the Tamil Nadu State Award for Best Television Actor in 2008 and the Sun Kudumbam Award for Best Actor in 2010.
