The brothers Sajid Khan and Wajid Khan, sons of tabla player Sharafat Ali Khan, were the members of the Indian Bollywood Hindi film music directing team Sajid–Wajid. On June 1, 2020, Wajid Khan, the younger of the two brothers, passed away. Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, a tabla player, and his wife Razina Khan are the parents of Sajid Ali Khan. Lubna Khan is his wife.
The Academy of Asiatic Cinema and Television was Sajid’s school. Padma Shri recipient Ustad Faiyyaz Ahmed Khan was his maternal grandpa. Sharafat Ali Khan, a tabla player and artist, and Razina Khan were the parents of Wajid Ali Khan. He formed the creative partnership Sajid–Wajid with his older brother Sajid Khan.
Wajid met Kamalrukh, his college sweetheart, while attending Mithibai College. While Wajid was highly immersed in tours and the musical formation, the two dated for about ten years. Due to family constraints and Kamalrukh Khan’s refusal to adhere to Wajid’s Sunni Muslim beliefs, the marriage was further delayed. Despite Wajid’s family’s objections, they eventually tied the knot under the Special Marriages Act, which permitted her to maintain her faith and get married without converting. Arshi, a daughter born in 2004, and Hrehaan, a son born around 2011, were the couple’s two children.
