S. S. Stanley served as an apprentice under directors Mahendran and Sasi prior to embarking on his own journey as a director. With twelve years of experience as an assistant director under his belt, he ventured into his directorial debut, “April Maadhathil,” a college romance featuring Srikanth and Sneha. The film proved to be a box office success. His subsequent project, “Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan,” starring Dhanush, achieved moderate success, although Stanley believed that the film’s storyline was misconstrued by the audience.
Despite his efforts, a film he was working on with Ravi Krishna, Saila Rao (Anjali Devi’s granddaughter), and Sonia Agarwal, produced by Krishnakanth, faced financial hurdles, leading to its postponement and prompting Stanley to take a break.
Returning to directing, Stanley collaborated with Srikanth once again for his next two films, starting with the release of the romantic drama “Mercury Pookkal.” His most recent directorial project, “Kizhakku Kadalkarai Salai” (2006), was met with negative reviews, with a critic describing it as having a “virtually invisible script” and being “pathetic” in nature. Transitioning into acting, Stanley took on roles in films, most notably portraying C. N. Annadurai in the biographical film “Periyar” (2007).
In the early months of 2015, Stanley outlined plans for a film named “Adam’s Apple,” set to be produced by AR Murugadoss’s production house, and featuring Vaibhav and Andrea Jeremiah. However, the project ultimately did not come to fruition.
