After founding the Chennai-based Seven Screen Studio in 2017, S. S. Lalit Kumar went on to produce the Sasikumar-starring Asuravadham and distribute 96 (2018) throughout Tamil Nadu. The name of Lalit’s wife, Leela Lalitkumar, appeared on the first draughts of the picture.
Later, he worked on more well-known productions, starting with Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Master (2021), which starred Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi in key roles. The COVID-19 pandemic caused several delays in the movie’s release, and Lalit Kumar frequently stated that the studio preferred to wait for a theatrical release rather turning to a streaming service.
The studio has collaborated on projects in 2022 that star Vikram, like Karthik Subbaraj’s Mahaan and R. Ajay Gnanamuthu’s Cobra. Additionally, it produced Samantha, Nayanthara, and Vijay Sethupathi’s Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal for Vignesh Shivan.
