Biography:

Actor Robert Joy was born in Canada on August 17, 1951. His most well-known roles are in the police procedural series CSI: NY as medical examiner Sid Hammerback and in the motion pictures Atlantic City (1980), Ragtime (1981), Desperately Seeking Susan (1985), Land of the Dead (2005), and The Hills Have Eyes (2006). For Atlantic City and Whole New Thing, he was nominated for two Genie Awards for Best Supporting Actor. Joy has also performed extensively on stage in both Canada and the US, especially in Shakespearean performances. He had a tight relationship with the Newfoundland comedic group CODCO earlier in his career.
