Richard Wenk

Biography:

American filmmaker and screenwriter Richard Wenk was born on May 6, 1956, and is well renowned for his work on the Equalizer movie series (2014–2023). Metuchen, New Jersey, is where Wenk was born in 1956.In addition to graduating from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts in 1979, he also received his diplomas from Metuchen High School in 1974 to 1979.

On the 1982 movie Annie, Wenk served as director John Huston’s assistant. Donald P. Borchers, a producer for New World Pictures, hired him in 1984 to develop and direct the black comedy Vamp (1986). Wenk’s NYU thesis film, Dracula Bites the Big Apple, was a musical vampire comedy short that had impressed Borchers. He directed Attack of the 5 In Women, a comedy, in 1994. He created and directed the movie Just the Ticket in 1998. He directed the slasher movie Wishcraft in 2002. In 2006, he wrote the script for Richard Donner’s last film 16 Blocks. In 2011, he wrote the action film The Mechanic. By 2012, he wrote Simon West’s ensemble action film The Expendables 2.

He was brought on board to write the script for the reboot of Masters of the Universe in October 2012. He agreed to write the scripts for the action movie The Equalizer and its two follow-ups in 2014. He wrote the action movies The Magnificent Seven, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, and Countdown in 2016. He was commissioned to create the story and screenplay for Renegades in 2017. Wenk was commissioned to write the Universal Soldier remake in 2018. He penned the action-thriller movie The Protégé in 2021. He wrote the action movie Fast Charlie in 2023. He wrote the upcoming police action movie Lethal Finale and the superhero movie Kraven the Hunter in 2024.
