Biography:

Ravikanth, originally known as Ravi Srinivasan, is a prominent Tamil actor born on May 28, 1962. Initially trained as a sound engineer, his journey in the entertainment industry took a turn when he joined a drama troupe, marking the beginning of a multifaceted career. During his theater days, Ravikanth forged a significant friendship with Charuhasan, the elder brother of Kamal Haasan.

This connection led him to Ananthu, an associate of director K. Balachander. It was under the mentorship of Balachander that Ravikanth underwent a name change, transforming into the actor known as Ravikanth. In 1987, Ravikanth made his foray into the silver screen with the film “Manathil Urudhi Vendum,” directed by K. Balachander. This film, featuring Suhasini Maniratnam in the lead role, also marked the mainstream acting debut of the legendary S P Balasubrahmanyam.

Ravikanth’s filmography spans several decades, showcasing his versatility. From playing alongside Rekha in “Pathimoonam Number Veedu” (1990) to sharing the screen with Ramesh Aravind in “Paattu Vaathiyar” (1995) and collaborating with Venkat Prabhu’s team in films like “Saroja” (2008), “Goa” (2010), “Mankatha” (2011), and “Biriyani” (2013), Ravikanth has consistently contributed to the cinematic landscape.

Beyond the silver screen, Ravikanth extended his talents to television serials. Notable appearances include the Jaya TV series “Sahana” and his pivotal role in the Zee Tamil series “Sollathan Ninaikiren.” From 2013 to 2017, he graced the Sun TV serial “Vamsam,” sharing the screen with acclaimed actress Ramya Krishnan. Ravikanth’s personal life has seen its share of chapters.

After parting ways with his first wife, he entered into matrimony with “Ambika” in 2000. However, this union faced challenges, leading to their separation in 2002. In addition to his artistic endeavors, Ravikanth is a businessman. He owns Reflomats, a specialized firm that focuses on the production of signs, showcasing a diversified skill set beyond the realm of acting.

Ravi’s professional journey started as a sound engineer. When circumstances led to the closure of the company, he found a new path in the dramatic arts. Acquaintance with Charuhasan and Ananthu paved the way for his acting debut in Balachander’s “Manathil Uruthi Vendum” in 1987. In the 2000s, Ravikanth became a regular in Venkat Prabhu’s films, beginning with “Saroja” in 2008.

His notable role in “Goa,” where he portrayed eleven different characters, was a defining moment in his career. Despite challenges, he continued to contribute to projects like “Mankatha” and “Biriyani.” Outside the cinematic sphere, Ravikanth’s entrepreneurial venture, Reflomats, demonstrates his prowess in business.
