Born in Kundapur, Karnataka, Ramesh Bhat’s journey to success began with his primary education in Manki. Even during his school days, he showcased his acting skills by portraying national leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru in various functions. His family later moved to Bangalore, where he continued his education at Model High School in Chamarajapet. After completing his diploma in mechanical engineering from SJ Polytechnic in Bangalore, he briefly worked at Kirloskar as a fitter before joining his father’s business. Additionally, he ventured into entrepreneurship and ran his own business in Basavanagudi.
In the 1960s and 1970s, Ramesh immersed himself in the vibrant world of theatre, collaborating with esteemed groups like Spandana, Nataranga, and Benaka. It was during this time that he formed a close bond with Shankar Nag, leading to numerous collaborations in plays, films, and TV series. Notably, he served as an assistant director for the iconic television series “Malgudi Days.”
Ramesh Bhat’s creative talents extend beyond acting and directing. He ventured into filmmaking with the movie “Parameshi Prema Prasanga,” which garnered critical acclaim and even received a nomination for the National Awards in 1983.
