Raj Acharya

Biography:

Raj Acharya is an Indian film-maker, author, and director who works extensively in Hindi television as well as in digital entertainment. Acharya started his career as an assistant director and worked on many critically acclaimed projects both national and international like Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Eat Pray Love (India schedule), Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (India schedule), The Hundred-Foot Journey, McMafia, Neerja, Talaash, and Love Sonia. His vast experience working on big-budget films enabled him to develop his unique cinematic style of directing and skills in filming action, drama and historically-based plots before becoming an independent director.

Acharya started his directorial journey by creating the historical drama series 21 Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897 (2018), which became widely popular due to its unique depiction of one of the most heroic battles – the Battle of Saragarhi. Further, Acharya gained recognition as a result of directing the military drama series Avrodh: The Siege Within (2020-2022) created on the basis of Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh’s book India’s Most Fearless and highly praised for its realistic depiction of Indian armed forces. Moreover, Acharya directed the crime thriller series Murder in Mahim (2024) based on Jerry Pinto’s book of the same name. Known for his realistic stories, cinematic vision and skills in creating action-packed and complex characters, Raj Acharya became one of the famous film-makers of Indian OTT platform.
