Pratibha Ranta

Biography:

Pratibha Ranta is an Indian actress who works in television and Hindi movies. She was born on December 17, 2000 into a Pahari Rajput family from Tikkar, which is located in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. She later moved to Shimla to further her studies. She received her education at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Chelsea, Shimla, then went on to Usha Pravin Gandhi College of Management in Mumbai to earn her degree in filmmaking.

Qurbaan Hua (2020–2021) was the television series in which Ranta made her acting debut. Since then, she has appeared in the web series Heeramandi (2024), which became her breakthrough role, and her feature debut, Laapataa Ladies (2024). Pahari Rajput family from Tikkar, which is located in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. She later moved to Shimla to further her studies.

Ranta played Chahat Baig Bhatt Dhyani opposite Karan Jotwani in Qurbaan Hua, her acting debut in 2020. In 2021, the series came to an end.  She then made her online debut in Aadha Ishq, playing Rene Bhardwaj opposite Gaurav Arora and Darsheel Safary. While praising her performance, Archika Khurana called her character “cliched” and “confusing” in her Times of India review.

In the 2024 film Laapataa Ladies, Ranta plays the role of Jaya/Pushpa, a swapped bride. In 2024, the movie was released in India She described as a “show-stealer” by Saibal Chatterjee, while Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express said, “The more worldly-wise yet not-as-independent-as-she-would-like-to-be Ranta, who has the more difficult role to pull off, wins the day.” She portrayed the daughter of a courtesan, Shama, in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s television series Heeramandi that same year. As per Bollywood Hungama, Ranta has “much to do” nothing.
