Pierce Brosnan

Biography:

Pierce Brendan Brosnan is an Irish actor and producer who was born on May 16, 1953. He starred in four films from 1995 to 2002 (GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day) and several computer games, including GoldenEye 007, making him the fifth actor to portray the fictitious secret agent James Bond in the James Bond film series.

Brosnan started training in commercial illustration after dropping out of school at the age of sixteen. He then spent three years at the Drama Centre in London. He gained fame in the television series Remington Steele (1982–1987) after a career in theater performance. Following the series’ finale, Brosnan starred in movies including Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), a comedy, and The Fourth Protocol (1987), a Cold War spy movie. Following his global success as James Bond, Brosnan starred in numerous big-budget movies, such as the remake of the heist movie The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) and the epic disaster adventure picture Dante’s Peak (1997).

He has starred in a number of films since leaving the Bond role, including the action spy thriller The November Man (2014), the political thriller The Ghost Writer (2010), the action fantasy Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010), the comedy musical Mamma Mia! (2008), its follow-up Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018), and Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020). Brosnan portrayed Doctor Fate/Kent Nelson in the DC Extended Universe movie Black Adam in 2022.

For the dark comedy film The Matador (2005) and the miniseries Nancy Astor (1982), Brosnan has been nominated for two Golden Globe Awards. He and American film producer Beau St. Clair established Irish DreamTime, a production business based in Los Angeles, in 1996. His environmental advocacy and charity endeavors are also well-known. Brosnan’s services to the film industry earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1997. On The Irish Times’ list of the best Irish performers in movies, he came in at number fifteen in 2020.
