Scottish actress Phyllis Logan was born on January 11, 1956. She is well known for her parts as Mrs. Hughes in Downton Abbey (2010–2015) and Lady Jane Felsham in Lovejoy (1986–1993). For the 1983 movie Another Time, Another Place, she was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and won the BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer. Secrets & Lies (1996), Shooting Fish (1997), Downton Abbey (2019), and Misbehaviour (2020) are some of her previous movie roles.
Logan was raised in the neighbouring town of Johnstone after being born in Paisley, Renfrewshire. David, her father, was a Rolls-Royce engineer, a trade union activist, and the secretary of the AUEW (Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers) local section. Having a brother and a sister, Logan is the youngest member of her family. While she was attending acting school, her father passed away at the age of 59. Logan attended Johnstone High School for his education. She received the James Bridie gold award in 1977 after attending Glasgow’s Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
