Parvathamma Rajkumar was an Indian cinema distributor and producer who lived from December 6, 1939, to May 31, 2017. She was Dr. Rajkumar’s cousin and wife, a seasoned Kannada performer. She used the production company “Poornima Enterprises” to produce popular movies that starred him and their kids Shiva Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar, and Raghavendra Rajkumar. The following actresses became well-known as a result of her work: Ramya, Sudha Rani, Rakshita, Prema, and Malashri. Bangalore University granted her a PhD.
She has won numerous honors, including the Kannada Rajyotsava and a Karnataka government lifetime achievement award. She made 80 films by 2012. She has defended Kannadigas, defended Karnataka’s stance in interstate water issues, and defended the works of the Kannada cinema industry from infringement.
On December 6, 1939, Parvathamma, the second of eight children born to Appaji Gowda and Lakshmamma, was born in Saligrama, Mysore district, in the former Kingdom of Mysore. According to reports, her uncle and future father-in-law, Singanallur Puttaswamaiah, promised to make her his daughter-in-law and put a silver coin in her cradle. On June 25, 1953, at the age of 14, she wed his son, her cousin, who would go on to become a matinée idol, Rajkumar. Together, they have five kids: girls Lakshmi and Poornima, and sons Shiva, Raghavendra, and Puneeth. Both Rajkumar and their son Puneeth passed away from cardiac arrest on April 12, 2006, and October 29, 2021, respectively.
