Nikesha Patel, a British-Indian actress, embarked on her acting journey with the 2010 Telugu film “Puli,” marking her entry into the world of Indian cinema. Over the years, she has showcased her talent in more than 30 films across Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam languages, often in leading roles.
Born into a Gujarati family in the United Kingdom, Nikesha Patel grew up in Cardiff, Wales. Her parents continue to reside in Pontypridd, Wales. Notably, she participated in the 2006 Miss Wales beauty pageant, making a significant impression. Additionally, she clinched five titles in the Miss India UK pageant, underscoring her charisma and charm.
Interestingly, Nikesha Patel did not have an easy journey into acting. She candidly referred to herself as a “terrible actor” and revealed that she faced multiple rejections from Peter Woolridge’s acting school over three years. However, her persistence eventually paid off as she earned a diploma in acting.
Her foray into the world of television began at the age of 15 when she became part of popular BBC TV shows like “Casualty,” “Tracy Beaker,” and “Doctor Who.” Her initial plans involved pursuing a career in Bollywood, and she received an offer from renowned actor and filmmaker Dev Anand, a friend of her father, to act in his film “Beauty Queen.” Unfortunately, this project was shelved, but it marked the beginning of her acting journey.
Nikesha Patel made her film debut in the Telugu film “Puli” in 2010, where she played the leading female role alongside Pawan Kalyan. This film was a massive launchpad, boasting a stellar technical team including AR Rahman, Binod Pradhan, and Ahmed Khan. Subsequently, she ventured into the Kannada film industry with movies like “Narasimha,” “Dakota Picture,” and “Varadhanayaka,” the latter being a remake of the Telugu film “Lakshyam.”
Although some of these Kannada films performed well at the box office, Nikesha expressed her dissatisfaction as an actress. However, she found fulfillment in her second Telugu film, “Om 3D,” in 2013.
In her quest for diverse roles, she also explored the Tamil film industry, with projects like “Amali Thumali” and “Narathan” opposite Nakul. Additionally, she secured roles in Tamil films like “Yennamo Yedho” and “Thalaivan.” Her commitment to acting extended to other languages as well, with films like “Namaste Madam” in Kannada and “RUM” in Telugu, directed and produced by MS Raju.
Throughout her career, Nikesha Patel demonstrated her versatility by working across multiple Indian film industries, showcasing her acting prowess and determination. She remained dedicated to her craft, taking on various projects that allowed her to grow as an actress and captivate audiences across different regions.
