Nathan Barr, also known as Nate Barr, is an American musician and composer for films and television shows. He was born on February 9, 1973. True Blood, The Americans, Carnival Row, and The Great are among his television compositions. His work on the miniseries Hollywood earned him a 2020 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Theme Music.
At the age of four, Barr began learning music in Tokyo, Japan. He attended Skidmore College to study English language and the cello. Barr relocated to Los Angeles in 1996 in order to pursue a career as a film and television composer. Working with Hans Zimmer on the films As Good as It Gets and The Prince of Egypt was one of his first gigs. Barr found an agency and started his own business after working for Zimmer for eight months. Since then, Barr has composed music for numerous motion pictures and television shows, including every episode of the HBO series True Blood.
