Actor, producer, and screenwriter Matthew Paige Damon was born in the United States on October 8, 1970. In 2007, Forbes listed him as one of the most bankable celebrities, and in 2010, he was among the highest-grossing actors in history. He has received various awards and nominations, including an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, in addition to nominations for three British Academy Film Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Before becoming well-known in 1997 when he and Ben Affleck co-wrote and starred in Good Will Hunting, which took home the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay, Damon made his acting debut in the 1988 movie Mystic Pizza. His roles as Linus Caldwell in the Ocean’s trilogy (2001–2007), Jason Bourne in the Bourne franchise (2002–2007; 2016), and Tom Ripley in The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) solidified his reputation as a leading actor. For his role as an astronaut marooned on Mars in The Martian (2015), he was nominated for an Academy Award and took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor.
