Manjima Mohan

Biography:

Manjima Mohan is an Indian actress recognized for her work in Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu films. Her career began as a child artist in Malayalam cinema. She made her debut as a lead actress in “Oru Vadakkan Selfie” (2015) in Malayalam and “Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada” (2016) in Tamil. Her exceptional performance in these films earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South in 2017. Born into a family with a cinematic background, Manjima is the daughter of renowned cinematographer Vipin Mohan and dancer Kalamandalam Girija. She completed her schooling in Thiruvananthapuram and pursued a B.Sc. degree in mathematics at Stella Maris College in Chennai. In 2022, she married actor Gautham Karthik.

Prior to her lead roles, Manjima gained recognition as a child artist and even hosted a popular television show for children on Surya TV, enhancing her popularity among Malayali audiences. Despite her early acting experience, she initially felt apprehensive and nervous when she transitioned to lead roles in films. However, her debut film “Oru Vadakkan Selfie” in Malayalam, directed by G. Prajith and scripted by Vineeth Sreenivasan, marked a significant turning point in her career. Impressed by her work in this film, director Gautham Vasudev Menon cast her as the female lead in “Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada,” her first Tamil film.

In subsequent years, Manjima continued to work in both Malayalam and Tamil films, showcasing her versatility as an actress. She made a comeback to Malayalam cinema in 2019 with “Mikhael” opposite Nivin Pauly. She also appeared in various Tamil films, including “Tughlaq Durbar” alongside Vijay Sethupathi and “Boo,” a horror thriller directed by A. L. Vijay, which premiered directly on JioCinema in 2023. Manjima’s career reflects her evolution from a child artist to a leading actress with a growing portfolio of diverse roles in Indian cinema.
