Shweta Konnur Menon, known by her stage name Malavika, is an Indian actress primarily known for her work in Tamil films, along with appearances in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema. She was born on July 19, 1979, in Bengaluru to parents Aishwarya and Brigadier Jayvibhav Konnur. In March 2007, Malavika married Sumesh, and the couple has a son born in 2008.
Malavika gained widespread recognition at the age of 19 when she made her debut in the 1999 Tamil film “Unnai Thedi” alongside Ajith Kumar, directed by Sundar C. This film became a major blockbuster, and she continued to work with Ajith in “Anandha Poongatre.” Her acting skills shone in the film “Rojavanam,” establishing her as an actress with three hits in a row. However, her fame was relatively short-lived, as her subsequent film “Pooparika Varugirom” did not perform well at the box office.
Throughout her career, Malavika experienced both successes and setbacks in the film industry. She made appearances in notable films such as “Vasool Raja MBBS” alongside Kamal Haasan and “Chandramukhi” in 2005. After a hiatus, she returned to the film industry in 2022 with the film “Golmaal,” directed by Pon Kumaran, marking her comeback after nearly a decade.
