Madhushree, born Sujata Bhattacharya on November 2, 1969, is a renowned Indian playback singer known for her versatile vocals in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Kannada, and Telugu films. With a strong foundation in classical and western music, she ventured into playback singing despite early training in classical music.

Her foray into the playback singing industry began with notable figures in Bollywood, including Javed Akhtar, who recommended her after hearing her recordings on CDs. Her debut in playback singing happened in Rajesh Roshan’s “Moksha.” Madhushree’s notable works include songs in movies like “Yuva,” “Aayitha Ezhuthu,” “Kal Ho Naa Ho,” and “Kuch Naa Kaho.” She’s prominently associated with A. R. Rahman’s compositions, delivering songs like “Tu Bin Bataye,” “In Lamhon Ke Daaman Me,” and “Ham Hain Ispal Yahan.”

Her notable achievements include winning the Sony Stardust Award for Best Female Sensation (Playback Singer) for the song “Kabhi Neem Neem” from “Yuva.” She also received recognition for her song “In Lamhon Ke Daaman Mein” from “Jodhaa Akbar.” Madhushree’s contributions earned her accolades like the Lions Gold Award for All-Time Film Versatile Playback Singer.
