Srilekha, originally Koduri Srilekha, is a well-known Indian playback singer and music composer, mainly recognized for her contributions in Telugu cinema. She stands out as the only female music composer in the Telugu film industry. Her family ties connect her with notable personalities in the industry, such as her cousin M. M. Keeravani, a renowned music composer, and S. S. Rajamouli, a popular director.
Srilekha began her musical journey as a playback singer at a young age, assisting her brother in music direction. At just 12 years old, she became a music composer for the film “Nalaiya Theerpu” (1992), marking the debut of the noted Tamil movie star, Vijay.
Her career expanded across various languages, composing music for Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam films. Additionally, she ventured into Hindi cinema, contributing music to movies like “Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain” (1999), “Mere Sapnon Ki Raani,” and “Aaghaaz” (2000).
In her personal life, Srilekha married Putta Prasad in 2003 and has a son. Her notable work includes her 75th film, composed for her paternal uncle V. Vijayendra Prasad’s directorial venture “Srivalli” in 2017.
