Lukman Avaran

Biography:

Lukman Avaran (born 22 May 1990) is an Indian actor known for his work in Malayalam cinema. His first theatrical release was Dayom Panthrandum (2013), marking the beginning of his film career. He gained recognition with his lead role in Operation Java (2021), directed by Tharun Moorthy. Lukman is particularly noted for his performances in Shibu (2019), Virus (2019), Operation Java (2021), Thallumaala (2022), and Saudi Vellakka (2022).

Hailing from Changaramkulam in Malappuram, Kerala, Lukman was born to Koladikkal Avaran and Haleema. He holds a B.Tech degree from the Royal College of Engineering & Technology in Chermanangad, Thrissur. On 20 February 2022, he married Jumaima.

Lukman began his acting journey with the short film Kittuo in 2013. His first on-screen appearance was in Dayom Panthrandum (2013), written by Harshad PK and Muhsin Parari and directed by Harshad PK, though the film was not released theatrically. His breakout role came with KL10 Patthu (2015), written and directed by Muhsin Parari.

In 2019, he received acclaim for his portrayal of Biju Kumar, a tribal police officer, in the film Unda. Two years later, in Operation Java, he played Vinaya Dasan, sharing the screen with Balu Varghese. Over the years, he has taken on several supporting roles, with key performances in Thallumaala (2022), directed by Khalid Rahman alongside Tovino Thomas, and in Saudi Vellakka (2022), Tharun Moorthy’s second film, where he starred with Binu Pappu. Saudi Vellakka was selected for screening under the Indian Panorama section at the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
