Luciane Buchanan

Biography:

Actress Luciane Buchanan was born in New Zealand on July 18, 1993. She is well-known for playing the lead in the 2023–2025 season of the action thriller series The Night Agent on Netflix. Additionally, she starred in The New Legends of Monkey (2018–2020) and Filthy Rich (2016–2017).

Herne Bay, Auckland, is where Buchanan was born and reared. She has Scottish and Tongan ancestry. Because of the financial pressures that surrounded them as Pacific Islanders, her mother urged that she fully learn English even though her family spoke Tongan.

In the 2011 telemovie Billy, she made her debut. She practiced on the spot on numerous movie shoots instead of attending any professional acting classes. Later, she attended regular acting workshops at the Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC), where she studied under Miranda Harcourt. In 2017, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Drama from the University of Auckland. In 2024, she produced a brief autobiographical film titled Lea Tupu’anga/Mother Tongue.
