Grant, James Dover, a British author best known for his Jack Reacher novel series, was born on October 29, 1954, and is mainly known by his pen name, Lee Child. The novels chronicle the travels of Jack Reacher, a former military police officer who roams the country. Both the Anthony Award and the 1998 Barry Award for Best First Novel went to his debut book, Killing Floor (1997).
Coventry is where Grant was born. The home where musician Van Morrison was born was occupied by his Northern Irish father, a civil servant who was born in Belfast. His younger brother, Andrew Grant, is also a thriller novelist; He is the second of four sons. In order to provide the boys with a better education, Grant’s family relocated to Handsworth Wood in Birmingham when he was four years old. Up until the age of eleven, Grant was a student at Cherry Orchard Primary School in Handsworth Wood. He went to Birmingham’s King Edward’s School.
Although he had no plans to pursue a career in law, Grant studied law at the University of Sheffield in 1974 when he was 20 years old . He worked backstage at a theater while he was a student. He worked in commercial television after graduating. He returned to the University of Sheffield to earn an honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) in 2009 after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 1977.
