Lauren Schmidt Hissrich

Biography:

Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich, born August 1, 1978 is a screenwriter and television producer from the United States. She is The Witcher’s show runner. Raised in Westerville, Ohio, she earned a BA in English literature and creative writing in 2000 from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.

In addition to writing and producing projects including Parenthood, Do No Harm, Private Practice, Daredevil, The Defenders, and The Umbrella Academy, she has authored scripts for television shows such The West Wing and Justice. The Witcher, a Netflix original series that is partially based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s book series, has her as its show runner and executive producer. She reportedly signed an overall contract with Netflix in 2021.
