Kulbhushan Kharbanda

Biography:

Indian actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda was born on October 21, 1944, and he has acted in both Punjabi and Hindi films. His most well-known performance was in Shaan (1980) as the antagonist Shakaal. In the 1960s, he began his career with the theatre group “Yatrik” in Delhi. In 1974, he made his film debut with Sai Paranjpye’s Jadu Ka Shankh. Prior to entering the mainstream Hindi film industry, he worked on a number of films in parallel cinema. He starred in the three parts of Deepa Mehta’s Elements trilogy, Fire (1996), Earth (1998), and Water (2005), as well as Mahesh Bhatt’s iconic Arth, Ek Chadar Maili Si, Waaris (1988). After almost twenty years, he made his stage debut in Vinay Sharma’s production of Atmakatha at Kolkata’s Padatik Theatre.
