Kruti Mahesh
Biography:
Indian dancer and choreographer Kruti Mahesh is well-known for her contributions to Hindi cinema. Together with Jyoti D. Tommar, she won the National Film Award for Best Choreography for the song “Ghoomar” from Padmaavat (2018). She also won the Filmfare Award for Best Choreography for “Dholida” from Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022). Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), ABCD 2 (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015), A Flying Jatt (2016), Race 3 (2018), Street Dancer 3D (2019), Shyam Singha Roy (2021), and Maja Ma (2022) are some of her best works. Since joining his team in Dance India Dance, Terence Lewis has been her mentor. Prior to becoming an independent choreographer, he helped Remo D’Souza along the road.
Kruti, who was born in Matunga, Mumbai, into a Tamil Brahmin family, enrolled in dance classes at the age of five and gave her Arangetram performance at the age of fourteen. After graduating from Mumbai University, she went to London to pursue a master’s degree in forensic science at London South Bank University before returning to Mumbai because of her father’s health problems. Her father inspired her to compete in dance competitions by encouraging her to follow her love of dancing. She was employed at a clinic as an embryologist.
