Ponram, a pseudonym for Ponraman Perumal, he was born in Usilampatti, Tamil Nadu, India.
He is a Indian film director and screenwriter. In 2007, he directed the movie Thirutham. In 2013, he directed Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. In 2018, he went on to direct Seema Raja.
In Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, a comedy film, he directed Sivakarthikeyan. A critic called the movie a “jolly good fun ride” in their review. The movie was a financial hit. Ponram later collaborated with Sivakarthikeyan on the film Seemaraja (2018) and Rajinimurugan (2016).
Upon their premiere, Rajinimurugan and Seemaraja drew mixed reviews, with the former emerging as a commercial success. The nine-episode anthology series Navarasa featured an episode called Town Bus, which Ponram also directed and starred Gautham Karthik. The episode was filmed in October 2020, but it was not included in the series.
