Kim Si-eun

Biography:

Kim Si-eun was born on January 19, 1999, in Ilsandong District, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She made her entertainment industry debut in 2016 as a host on Live Talk! Talk! Boni Hani and has since built a strong career in acting.

Her breakthrough role came in the film Next Sohee, directed by Jung Ju-ri. The film follows a high school student undergoing on-site training at a call center and a female detective investigating the surrounding incidents. Director Jung Ju-ri discovered Kim through a YouTube video where she was hosting Live Talk! Talk! Boni Hani with an energetic presence. After meeting her in person, Jung was deeply impressed by Kim’s determination and objective approach to storytelling. This natural chemistry led to her casting as Sohee, a role she played with striking authenticity.

Kim’s performance in Next Sohee left a lasting impression, particularly with her portrayal of Sohee’s innocence and quiet confidence. Her acting was widely praised, earning her the Best New Actress in Film award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards.

In September 2023, Kim signed with Goldmedalist, a new agency representing her career.

In December 2024, she gained global recognition for her role in Squid Game Season 2, where she played Young-mi, a contestant with the number 095. The series quickly became the most-watched Netflix original, topping the platform’s Global Top 10 rankings. Kim’s performance received widespread acclaim, further solidifying her rising status in the industry.
