Khushbu Sundar, formerly known as Nakhat Khan, is a prominent Indian figure with a multifaceted career encompassing politics, acting, film production, and television presentation. She is widely recognized for her contributions to the Indian film industry, particularly in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi cinema.
Born on September 29, 1970, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Khushbu hails from a Muslim family. Her given name was Nakhat Khan, but she adopted the stage name “Khushbu” when she embarked on her career as a child actress. For nearly four decades, she has made Chennai her home.
Khushbu’s personal life has seen its share of notable moments. She was in a relationship with actor Prabhu while working together on “Chinna Thambi” (1991).
Their romantic involvement began in 1989 and deepened by 1991. In a 1996 interview with an English film magazine, Khushbu revealed that she and Prabhu lived together for four and a half years before their marriage. They tied the knot on September 12, 1993, in the house they had acquired in Poes Garden. It’s worth noting that their relationship faced opposition from Sivaji Ganesan, Prabhu’s father, and eventually, they decided to part ways after four months.
In the year 2000, Khushbu married film actor, director, and producer Sundar C. From then on, she adopted the married name “Khushbu Sundar.” The couple has two daughters, Avantika and Anandita. They even named their production house “Avni Cinemax” after their daughters.
Khushbu’s journey in the world of cinema commenced at a young age when she worked as a child artist. She made her debut in the Hindi film “The Burning Train” (1980) in the song “Teri Hai Zameen Tera Aasman.” Between 1980 and 1985, she showcased her talent as a child actor in several Hindi films, including “Naseeb,” “Laawaris,” “Kaalia,” “Dard Ka Rishta,” and “Bemisal.” One of her early memorable performances was in the emotionally charged 1982 Hindi film “Dard Ka Rishta.” Her portrayal in this film earned praise from audiences, and the song “Main Pariyon Ki Shehzaadi” from the movie continues to be popular at school events, children’s parties, and fairy-themed gatherings across India.
Khushbu’s journey, from a child artist to a well-established actress and public figure, has been marked by versatility and determination, and she continues to be a respected figure in the Indian entertainment industry.
