Khesari Lal Yadav, born Shatrughan Kumar Yadav on March 15, 1986, is a versatile figure in Indian entertainment, known for his contributions to Bhojpuri cinema as an actor, singer, dancer, and model. His career spans over 70 films and more than 5000 songs across Bhojpuri, Hindi, Awadhi, and Haryanvi languages.
Originally from Chhapra, Bihar, Yadav’s journey began in the late 2000s as a singer before transitioning into acting, notably making his mark with the film Saajan Chale Sasural in 2011. He expanded his reach into Bollywood as a singer with “AK-47” in the film Koyelaanchal in 2014.
Yadav has earned numerous accolades, including Best Popular Actor at the 2016 Bhojpuri Film Awards, followed by Best Actor (Male) and Best Playback Singer (Male) at the Sabrang Film Awards in 2018 for Mehandi Laga Ke Rakhna. His film Sangharsh earned him four more awards in 2019. He also participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 13 in the same year.
Expanding into the Hindi music scene, Yadav released his Hindi singles “Ladki Patana” and “Tere Mere Darmiyaan” in 2020 and 2021, respectively. He collaborated with Badshah on the Bhojpuri version of “Pani Pani.” In 2022, he ventured into screenwriting with the film Aashiqui, and his songs were featured on YouTube’s top Indian songs list.
