Ke Huy Quan

Biography:

Ke Huy Quan is pronounced KEE-hwee-KWAHN. Vietnamese: American actor Quan Kên Huy, sometimes known as Jonathan Ke Quan, was born in 1970 or 1971. Among his honors are a BAFTA nomination, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Saturn Award.

Quan, who was born in Vietnam, moved to the US as a young child. He became well-known as a young actor for his roles as Data in The Goonies (1985) and Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). He played a few parts as a young adult in the 1990s before taking a 19-year break from acting to work as an assistant director and stunt choreographer.

Quan made a comeback as an actor in the family adventure movie. Finding ʻOhana (2021) and the highly regarded Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), for which he received numerous honors, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He is the first actor to win an Academy Award who was born in Vietnam. In 2023, Time magazine listed him as one of the world’s 100 most powerful individuals.[8) Since then, he has acted in the Disney animated movie Zootopia 2 in 2025 and the second season of the Disney+ series Loki in 2023.

Quan Kên Huy was born in Saigon, South Vietnam, in 1970  or 1971  into an eight-sibling Chinese family. Quan and his family left Vietnam three years after the war ended in 1975. Quan’s mother and three other siblings traveled to Malaysia, while he, his father, and five siblings traveled to Hong Kong. In 1979, Quan’s whole family was accepted into the United States via the Refugee Admissions Program after residing in a camp for refugees in Hong Kong. Quan was raised in California and attended Alhambra High School in Alhambra and Mount Gleason Junior High School in Sunland-Tujunga, Los Angeles.
