Kadhal Sukumar

Biography:

Indian actor and director Kadhal Sukumar has made appearances in Tamil-language motion pictures. following ten years as a comic in motion pictures, most notably in the love drama Kaadhal (2004) directed by Balaji Sakthivel.

In 1997, Sukumar, a farmer’s son from Alanganallur, near Madurai, traveled to Chennai in quest of a Tamil cinema stardom possibility. When he made his on-screen debut in Sakthi (1997), he danced with Vadivelu in a song. Several observers noted how much he resembled the actor. Subsequently, Sukumar performed in an unaired film directed by Kasthuri Raja called Kaadhal Jaathi. He later gained recognition in the film business for his role on the Raj TV series Oorvambu.

Sukumar made his breakthrough in the romantic comedy Kaadhal (2004), starring as Bharath’s companion and narrated by Balaji Sakthivel. The actor prefixed his name with the title of the picture after it became successful. He contributed to the village drama Virumaandi and the comedy Vasool Raja MBBS, both starring Kamal Haasan, in the same year.

Sukumar was given the chance to play the lead in the 2008 movie Saamipulla, which starred Karthika and Saranya Mohan. The movie was abandoned after failing to gain momentum despite a launch event.

Thirukkural, which Sukumar started directing in late 2012, was eventually canceled following several scheduling conflicts. As a result, his debut release, Thiruttu VCD (2015), had him in a pivotal part. The movie was released quietly and had a poor box office run.

Sukumar then directed Summave Aaduvom (2016), a film about street performers that starred Leema Babu and athlete Arun Balaji. A writer from The New Indian Express wrote, “After his disastrous directorial debut in Thiruttu VCD, Summave Aaduvom comes as a redemption of sorts for the actor-turned-maker.” The criticism was complimentary when the movie first came out.
