Josh Dallas

Biography:

Joshua Paul Dallas (born December 18, 1978) is an American actor, best recognized for playing Prince Charming/David Nolan in the ABC series Once Upon a Time and Ben Stone in the NBC/Netflix sci-fi drama Manifest.

After completing his studies at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in England, Dallas performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and went on to work with the Royal National Theatre, English National Opera, the New Shakespeare Company, and the Young Vic.

When he returned to the U.S., he was cast as Fandral in Thor after Stuart Townsend exited the role just before filming began. Since Dallas was relatively unknown at the time, it was speculated that his casting was due to the limited time to find a replacement. To prepare, he studied Errol Flynn, who inspired the character’s creation, noting Flynn’s playful charm and incorporating it into his portrayal. Dallas did not return for the Thor sequels, with Zachary Levi taking over the role.

In 2011, he began playing Prince Charming in Once Upon a Time. He remained on the show for six seasons, left in 2017, and returned for the series finale in 2018. From 2018 to 2023, Dallas starred as Ben Stone in the NBC mystery-drama Manifest, which debuted on September 24, 2018.

Dallas was born in Louisville, Kentucky. While living in Bardstown, Kentucky, he briefly worked as a backup singer for the indie folk band Running Greenville but left after disagreements with the lead singer. In 2003, he met British actress Lara Pulver; the two married in 2007 and divorced in 2011. He later began a relationship with his Once Upon a Time co-star Ginnifer Goodwin. The couple became engaged in October 2013 and married in California on April 12, 2014. They have two sons, born in 2014 and 2016.
