American author, musician, and spiritual instructor specializing in sound healing and harmonics is Jonathan Goldman. Colorado’s Boulder is his home base.
In the late 1970s, Goldman got his start as a guitarist in the Boston punk movement. Goldman started studying music psychology and sound science, focusing his research on the potential applications of sound as a therapeutic medium.
He established the Lexington, Massachusetts-based Sound Healers Association (SHA) in 1982.
Goldman pursued his studies during this period while earning a master’s degree from Lesley University.
One of the first record labels devoted to the therapeutic application of sound and music was Spirit Music, which he founded when he started recording his own songs.
Along with Goldman, other artists that the label has recorded and released music by include Don Campbell, Sarah Benson, Sam McClellan, Laraaji, the Gyume Monks, and most recently, Lama Tashi.
Jonathan Goldman was honored with an induction into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame in 2011. He was also listed as number 74 on the Watkins Review’s list of the “100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People in the World” that same year.
