Johannes “Joe” Taslim is an Indonesian model, actor, and martial artist who was born on June 23, 1981. He competed for Indonesia’s national judo team from 1997 to 2009, collecting three silver and bronze medals at the Southeast Asian Games and a gold medal at the 2008 Pekan Olahraga Nasional. Among his movie roles are Sergeant Jaka in The Raid (2011), Jah in Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Manas in Star Trek Beyond (2016), and Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat (2021) and the forthcoming Mortal Kombat II (2026). He portrays Li Yong, the main character on the television series Warrior.
Taslim was born into a Chinese Christian household in Palembang, Indonesia.He started learning martial arts at an early age and credits Tadahiro Nomura and Japanese judoka Kosei Inoue as role models. He has also trained in wushu, pencak silat, and taekwondo. In 2004, Joe Taslim wed Julia Taslim; the two had three kids.
