Spanish actor Javier Ángel Encinas Bardem was born on March 1, 1969. He’s won an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award, a Critics’ Choice Movie Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, seven Goya Awards, a Cannes Film Festival Award, and two Volpi Cups during the course of his more than three-decade career.
His Spanish films, including Jamón jamón (1992), Boca a boca (1995), Carne trémula (1997), Los lunes al sun (2002), and Mar adentro (2004), brought him initial recognition. He is the son of actress Pilar Bardem. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his roles as Desi Arnaz in Being the Ricardos (2021), a criminal with cancer in Biutiful (2010), and Reinaldo Arenas in Before Night Falls (2000). His performance as assassin Anton Chigurh earned him the Best Supporting Actor Oscar in the Coen brothers’ 2007 crime picture No Country for Old Men.
