James Marsden

Biography:

American actor and musician James Paul Marsden was born on September 18, 1973. Among his honors are two Emmy Award nominations and one Golden Globe. He made his acting debut as a guest star in the television series Party of Five (1995), Touched by an Angel (1995), and Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1993). Marsden became well-known for playing Cyclops in the four X-Men movies from 2000 to 2014. Superman Returns (2006), Hairspray (2007), Enchanted (2007), 27 Dresses (2008), Hop (2011), The Notebook (2004), and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013).

He played Tom Wachowski in the action-adventure comedy film series Sonic the Hedgehog (2020–present), John F. Kennedy in the drama picture The Butler (2013), and Cyclops in the next Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Avengers: Doomsday (2026). From 2016 until 2022, Marsden appeared in the science fiction series Westworld. From 2019 to 2022, he starred in the black comedy series Dead to Me, for which he was nominated for a Critics’ Choice Television Award. He had cameos on the comedies 30 Rock (2012–2013) and Modern Family (2011). In the mockumentary series Jury Duty (2023), he played a fictionalized version of himself and was nominated for both a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe. Since then, Marsden has starred in the second season of the black comedy-drama Your Friends & Neighbors (2026) and the thriller series Paradise (2025), for which he was nominated for a second Primetime Emmy Award.
