Isidora Goreshter was born and raised in Long Beach, California, where she began performing on stage at the age of three and trained in classical ballet. During her childhood, she also competed in gymnastics, earning several distinctions — including first place on beam, second on vault and floor, and third overall in her age group at the 1992 California State Cup Championship. That same year, she placed second overall in her age group at the Central Pacific Championships. She later graduated from Long Beach State University with degrees in Art History and Theatre.
Goreshter is the first in her family to be born in the United States, with her family originally from the former Soviet Union. Two of her grandparents were from Orhei, Moldova. She went on to study acting at the Stella Adler Conservatory, where she performed in several stage productions, including Beirut, The Smell of the Kill, Waiting for Lefty, Laundry and Bourbon, and Waiting for Godot.
