Indian actress Shruti Sawant, better known by her stage name Ineya, primarily works in Tamil and Malayalam movies. For her performance in the Tamil film Vaagai Sooda Vaa (2011), she received the Edison Award for Best Debut Actress and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress. She also won the Kerala movies Award for Best Supporting Actress in the Malayalam movies Parole (2018) and Pengalila (2019).
As a young artist, Ineya appeared in a number of Malayalam telefilms, short films, and television shows. [1] She acted in the telefilm Koottilekku while in class four. She then made appearances in the tele-serials Orma and Sree Guruvayoorappan, both of which were directed by Vayalar Madhavan Kutty. After winning Miss Trivandrum in 2005, Ineya modeled and starred in a number of TV commercials and award-winning Malayalam art films, such as Dr. Biju’s Saira (2006), Dalamarmarangal (2009), and Umma (2011), all of which were directed by Vijayakrishnan. She also played a significant part in the child abuse-focused short film The Sacred Face, directed by Rajesh Touchriver.
She starred in the Tamil movie Padagasalai in 2010 and signed on to four additional Tamil movies, all of which were canceled or never came out. In Mysskin’s mystery thriller Yuddham Sei, she subsequently portrayed Cheran’s sister in a supporting role. She played the lead female role in his historical drama Vaagai Sooda Vaa (2011). Critics praised her portrayal of a tea stand owner. The “welcome find” was described as “natural, appealing, and very expressive” by Rediff’s Pavithra Srinivasan. She costarred with Arulnidhi in the 2011 movie Mouna Guru.
She appeared in several unusual Malayalam films, including Radio, Bhoopadathil Illatha Oridam, and Ayaal. She made her debut as herself in Vikraman’s Ninaithathu Yaaro in 2014. followed by Naan Sigappu Manithan and Chaappa Kurishu in Pulivaal, the Tamil adaptation of the Malayalam movie. She portrayed a dancer in Madhu Kaithapram’s Vellivelichathil (In the Limelight), her sole Malayalam film released in 2014. [9] In the comedy show Amar Akbar Anthony (2015), she does a dance performance. She is also featured in the bilingual films Girls (2016) and Alone (2015).
In Jose Thomas’s 2016 film Swarnakaduva, Ineya played the role of Lovely. For her strong performance in the film, the actress received a lot of accolades. She costarred with Mammootty in the 2017 film Puthan Panam. At the Kerala Film Critics Association Awards, Iniya took up the second Best Supporting Actress prize for her roles in the films Parole (2018) and Pengalila (2019). She plays the lead in the horror-comedy Tamil movie Pottu (2019). Ineya appeared alongside Megastar Mammootty in the Malayalam movie Mamangam (2019). Her role in the movie was highly praised.
