Actress Hemashree Hosahalli Nagaraju (1982–October 9, 2012) was from India and appeared in Kannada soap operas on television. She was a striving actress who had played supporting parts in a few Kannada movies. She ran on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket for her hometown of Chikkanayakana Halli in the Tumkur district of Karnataka in the 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections. Her spouse, Surendra Babu, was accused of her murder, and she passed away in October 2012 under unknown circumstances.
At the age of 19, Hemashree made her acting debut in a Kannada television soap opera in 2001. She received her training in Bangalore at the Adarsha Film and T. V. Institute. She worked on S. Narayan-produced soap operas including Danda Pindagalu and Saahasa Lakshmiyaru in the ensuing years. She has small parts in the 2006 movies Varsha and Sirivantha.
On June 22, 2011, Hemashree wed R. Surendra Babu, a realtor and advocate. Her mother, who had gotten a ₹50 lakh dowry from Babu, who was 48 at the time, forced her to wed him. Fearing that Babu would hurt her, she filed a complaint about the incident with the Bangalore City Police the next day and requested police protection.Her “allegedly greedy family” pushed her into politics, it was also disclosed. The pair resided in Bangalore’s Banashankari neighborhood.
