Gracy Singh, born in Delhi, India, embarked on her career by touring with the dance group “The Planets.” Her initial foray into acting occurred in the 1997 television soap opera, “Amanat.” In 1999, she made her appearance in the Bengali film “Sundori Bou.”
Her breakthrough came when she starred alongside Aamir Khan in Ashutosh Gowariker’s acclaimed sports-drama “Lagaan,” portraying the role of a village belle. Her performance earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and she won the Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female.
Following “Lagaan,” Gracy Singh featured in several successful Hindi and Telugu films, including “Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.” and “Santosham.” She also showcased her talent in Punjabi films like “Lakh Pardesi Hoye” and a Malayalam film called “Loudspeaker,” directed by Jayaraj.
