Girishh Gopalakrishnan

Biography:

Girishh was born on September 26, 1986 From Tanjore, Tamil Nadu. Since he was eight years old, he has studied music with violinist Lalgudi Jayaraman. He received instruction from the late Das Daniel in western classical music as well.

After earning his engineering degree in 2008, Girishh continued on to Leeds College of Music to complete his master’s in music composition. He then persisted in remaining in the UK, where he worked as a freelance orchestra conductor and composer, writing music for theater, dance, and film productions.

Girishh met Pandiraj in October 2011 thanks to Sivakarthikeyan, who later hired him to write the music for Marina since the movie’s soundtrack needed a global feel. On January 9, 2012, the music for Marina was released to great reviews, critical acclaim, and popularity. The song “Vanakkam Chennai” and its music video went viral. The background score and soundtrack to the movie were well-received by critics.

Girishh worked on director Balaji K. Kumar’s experimental thriller “Vidiyum Munn” following Marina. The British singer Susheela Raman sings the song “Penne” in the movie. On August 16, 2013, the audio for Vidiyum Mun was released under the Saregama label by Sony. The fact that composer Vidiyum Munn also wrote all of the song lyrics makes her soundtrack stand out from the others.

On November 29, 2013, “Vidiyum Munn” was released to acclaim for the movie, its soundtrack, and its background score, which was recorded in Manchester, UK, starring members of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. Brian Morrell, a conductor who has collaborated with artists like Elton John and Sting, oversaw the music.
