Girish A. D. is an Indian filmmaker known for his work as a director, screenwriter, actor, and producer primarily in the Malayalam film industry. He has been involved in popular projects such as “Premalu,” “Super Sharanya,” and “Thanneer Mathan Dinangal.”
Girish A.D. was born in Aluva, Thrissur, Kerala, to Dineshan and Geetha. He completed his higher secondary education at St. Sebastians HSS, Kuttikkad, Chalakudy, and earned a Bachelor of Technology degree from MET’s School of Engineering in Mala, Thrissur. He has been married to Chippy Viswan since June 23, 2019.
Following his graduation, Girish began creating short films. His early works, including “Yashpal,” “Vishuddha Ambrose,” and “Mookutthi,” received critical acclaim and gained a substantial audience. He received the Best Director Award at the Adoor Short Film Festival in 2017 for “Vishuddha Ambrose.”
After a brief appearance in Bilahari K Raj’s 2017 independent film “Porattam,” Girish made his debut as a writer in the Malayalam film industry in 2018 with “Allu Ramendran,” directed by Bilahari K Raj. The following year, he made his directorial debut with “Thanneer Mathan Dinangal,” a coming-of-age romantic comedy co-written by Dinoy Poulose. The film, produced by Plan J Studios and Shebin Backer Productions, starred Vineeth Sreenivasan, Mathew Thomas, and Anaswara Rajan in lead roles. In 2022, Girish released his second directorial project, “Super Sharanya.”
